Born in London, Claire graduated from Central Saint Martins (CSM) in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Womenswear Design. Shortly thereafter she began working for London based Designer Roksanda Ilincic, as principal Design Assistant and Head of the Sampling Department, responsible for the pre-production department. The role involved working closely with Roksanda each season on design development along with overseeing all aspects of pre-show sampling.
“Claire’s creative mind enabled her to effectively devise new features and to solve construction and fit issues. Her ability to intelligently assess, translate and realize a design distinguished her in this role.“ – Zoe Olive, Studio Director for Roksanda Ilincic.
In 2010, Claire was awarded the coveted Diane Von Furstenberg scholarship to complete a two-year Masters degree in Fashion Design and Society, a new MFA endorsed by Donna Karan and directed by British Designer Shelley Fox at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Her thesis collection was shown at Milk Studios during New York Fashion Week in September 2012. The collection received worldwide recognition from the International press and was featured in both The New York Times and French newspaper, Le Monde. In June of 2012, Claire began working as Design Director for New York based Contemporary brand, David Lerner. Claire’s experience within the Industry however stretches back to 2001 when, at age 16 she earned herself an internship at Gucci. Throughout her time at CSM, Claire continued to gain valuable industry experience, working both in London and Milan for iconic establishments such as Valentino and British Vogue.
A FEW OF CLAIRE'S FAVOURITE THINGS
Sheers: One word… essential. Boarding Passes: I collect each and every one of my boarding passes and keep them in my passport wallet even when I travel. Climbing shoes: Although I can only be called amateur at best, I really love rock climbing. Mariage Frères Tea:Loose Leaf Rooibos Tea from Mariage Frères is a little indulgence I allow myself when in Paris. Rings: I’m never without wearing at least one of these; my T-Rex ring; the Bauhaus; Bruiser the cat ring; or the Signet Ring, which was a gift from someone very special to me.Miniature Clog: I can’t remember when or where this miniature clog is from, all I know is that I’ve had it for as long as I can remember.Rotring Geometry Set: I’m obsessed with stationary, to the point where stationary shopping is my version of retail therapy. Union Jack Ashtray: Although I’m officially French and German, I was born and raised in London and definitely call London ‘home’. Polaroid 600 film:I mourned the loss of the Polaroid and savor the last few 600 films I have in the fridge (Where else of course). Animal Jewelry: Another obsession I have is collecting animal jewelry. Elephant Rings; Monkey necklaces; Antler earrings… Magnetic Fridge letters: I love puzzles and to-do lists; so naturally magnetic fridge letters are perfect for satisfying both of these needs. Duck Tape: One of the ‘crucial’ items I would wish for if I were ever to be stranded. Vintage Afghani Neck Piece: I treasure this necklace, a friend who found it on her journey through Afghanistan gave it to me years ago.
